6 They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy. 5 They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh. 4 But he shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself. Neither the one nor the other must have any blemish, ver 16, etc. The high priest is restrained more than any of them, ver 10-15. The inferior priests are here charged both concerning their mourning and concerning their marriages and their children, ver 1-9. This chapter might borrow its title from Mal 2 1, "And now, O you priests, this commandment is for you." It is a law obliging priests with the utmost care and jealousy to preserve the dignity of their priesthood.
